Why isn't hosts automatically added to /etc/hosts within the same network in Docker?

Greetings.
I'm digging into the docker as part of this article https://habrahabr.ru/post/310460/
At the stage of automatically adding hosts to /etc/hosts within the same network, I broke down.
I do everything according to the guide, but the hosts are not added.
Tell me what I'm doing wrong. Where to dig.
The place in the article can be found by the expression (this expression is also below):

Теперь у нас есть сеть. Можно запустить наши контейнеры внутри сети с помощью флага --net.

Created a network Started a
muscle container with a network name, named it with a name, daemonized
Started an application container with a network name, named it
