Laptop sometimes won't go into sleep mode and won't turn off?

The problem is this: after a long session of video games, the laptop does not enter sleep mode and does not turn off. Only pressing the power button helps. The screen is off, but the indicators are still on. Cooling is fine. I sin on Steam. Can the fact that I turn off Steam and immediately turn off / close the laptop affect the problem?
